Hsin-Yu (Jane) Lai’s and Gladynel Saavedra Peña’s work on measuring saccade latency with a smart phone to be published in the IEEE Journal on Biomedical and Health Informatics

Jane and Gladynel’s work demonstrates that saccade latency – a measure of visual reaction time – can be measured robustly using the kind of cameras that are used in smart phones and tablet computers. The work enables tracking of this digital biomarker in a broad population. Congratulations, Jane and Gladynel!

The Integrative Neuromonitoring and Critical Care Informatics group is teaming up with Philips Research North America and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, to develop and test a phased-array based system for operator-independent measurement of cerebral blood flow velocity for noninvasive estimation of intracranial pressure. The work is funded by the United States Department of Defense.

Prof. Heldt leads a team of MIT investigators to develop a noninvasive, ultrasound-based approach to arterial blood pressure measurement. This NIH-funded U01 project brings together Dr. Brian Anthony, Dr. Kai Thomenius, Prof. Harry Lee, Prof. Charlie Sodini, and Prof. Collin Stultz at MIT to develop a next-generation blood pressure measurement system.
